In the aftermath of the 49ers’ bye week, the team is trying to decide what it wants to do with its roster for the remainder of the season.
And while some feel the team needs to add another quarterback to its roster, some feel it’s not going to be that difficult to find a new starting quarterback.
Here are the questions that have been on everyone’s minds this week:Who’s going to start at quarterback?
The answer, for now, is still a mystery.
The 49ers have yet to determine whether they’re going to go with Colin Kaepernick or Joe Webb, who’s been with the team since 2014.
The team is reportedly open to having either player as its starting quarterback, and according to NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport, there are a number of teams interested in the job.
“We’ve got teams that are going to look at the quarterback situation, but the 49er guys want to see how the guy responds to the training camp and preseason,” Rapoports said.
“They don’t want to lose Webb, and they also don’t see Kaepernick being the guy that they have to worry about.
They’re open to whatever comes out of that.”
While Webb has had the best year of his career, Kaepernick has a better overall resume and has a chance to be the team’s starting quarterback for at least another year.
That could open the door for Colin Kaepernick to start as soon as Week 4.
If the 49ingers decide to keep Webb, he could start in a few weeks, as the team can use him as a reserve.
What’s the status of Johnny Manziel?
The Browns were one of the teams that initially expressed interest in acquiring Johnny Manziel, but their interest has been pared down since the quarterback’s arrest on domestic violence charges.
They’ve been in the market for a new quarterback for the past few weeks.
They could move on with another quarterback, but there’s no telling how quickly that might happen.
The Browns currently have a handful of quarterbacks on their roster: Cody Kessler, Cody Kessler II, Johnny Manziel III, Brandon Weeden and Kyle Shanahan.
What happens if the Browns decide to move on?
It’s possible that the Browns will move on from Manziel, which would mean moving on from the quarterback position.
Manziel has played in just one game this season, so he hasn’t been fully cleared for the league.
If he’s ruled out, that could cause the Browns to look elsewhere.
How will the Browns’ defense fare?
The Cleveland Browns’ defensive line has struggled on defense, and there are questions about how the unit will fare in 2017.
The unit struggled against the run in 2017, and the team could find it tougher in 2018.
If they do decide to add a quarterback, they would have to make sure that quarterback has some experience on defense.
It’s possible they’d have to add two veterans who are both in their 20s, but that’s still far from clear.
